Weekly F&O Context — Sunday, 28 June 2026

Quick note before the week kicks off. This isn't about direction — it's about sizing, which honestly matters more than your entry most weeks.

The way I think about it: full size is earned, not assumed. If you've had three clean trades in a row, the structure is obvious, and you're trading with the trend on a strong index day — fine, go full. But that combination is rarer than people admit. Most days fall somewhere in the messy middle.

Here's my rough framework for the week ahead. Halve your size when any of these show up: VIX is jumpy, we're entering an expiry day with no clear bias, you're trading the first 15 minutes, or you've just taken a loss and want to "make it back". That last one is the killer. Revenge sizing has eaten more accounts than any wrong call ever did.

When to go quarter size or just skip

  • Gap opens above 0.5% with no follow-through in the first 30 mins
  • Range-bound chop where the daily pivot keeps getting tested both ways — check the levels on the pivot calculator before you size up
  • News-heavy sessions where price isn't reacting to technicals
  • Fridays after a strong trending week — mean reversion risk is real

Worth noting — June end usually brings some quarter-end rebalancing flows. Not the cleanest tape for aggressive sizing. I'd personally keep my standard lot count and resist the urge to "press" if Monday opens strong.

Your edge isn't in being right more often. It's in being bigger when you're right and smaller when you're wrong. Easier said than done. Trade light, sleep well.
