Nifty & Bank Nifty Pivot Points — Thursday, 16 July 2026

Yesterday closed weak — Nifty gave up the day's range and shut near the lows at 24,072. Bank Nifty did the same, closing in the lower third after tapping 57,931. So we're walking in with sellers holding the last punch. Here's what I'd actually watch today.

Nifty 24,019 — the S1 that's basically today's line in the sand

Close was 24,072, S1 sits at 24,019. That's a 50-point cushion. If we open flat and this cracks in the first hour, the path to 23,966 opens up quickly and there's not much in between to defend. Equally, if we open below and reclaim 24,019, that's the kind of trap-and-reverse setup I like — but only with confirmation, not on the first candle. Don't chase the open print.

Nifty 24,156 — the level bulls need to grab back

R1 at 24,156 is roughly where yesterday's selling really picked up steam. Any pullback rally that stalls here and rolls over is a clean short-side structure. A clean breakout above with sustained price action opens 24,239, but honestly, given how yesterday closed, I'd want to see it happen before believing it.

Bank Nifty 57,357 — watch this one closely

BNF's S1 at 57,357 is only about 225 points from the close. Given BNF's average range was 511 yesterday, this can get tagged in one aggressive move. If it holds on a first test, decent bounce trade. If it slices through, 57,133 comes into play fast. Not the cleanest setup for either side right at the open — let it show its hand.
