Nifty & Bank Nifty Pivot Points — Wednesday, 17 June 2026
Yesterday was a tight, uneventful session. Nifty traded a 139-point range and closed near the upper end at 24,085. Bank Nifty did 424 points, also closing strong at 57,585. Both indices held bid through the day but neither broke out into anything meaningful — the kind of session that leaves you guessing whether the trend is paused or just lazy.
For Nifty, the level that matters today is 24,139 (R1). Price closed right under it, so a gap-up open near that zone is essentially testing it from the wrong side — sustained move above opens up 24,193 fairly quickly. On the downside, 24,000 is the obvious psychological + S1 confluence. Lose that and 23,916 comes into play, but I wouldn't go hunting for shorts unless 24,000 breaks with volume. The middle zone between PP (24,054) and R1 is chop territory — not the cleanest setup for intraday trades.
Bank Nifty is the more interesting one. Close at 57,585 is sitting between PP and R1, with R1 at 57,746 acting as the immediate hurdle. A gap-up straight into 57,750-57,900 zone and I'd personally keep size small — that's a known supply pocket from the pivot math and price will likely react there at least once. Gap-down towards 57,322 (S1) is where I'd watch for either a bounce setup or a breakdown towards 57,060. Worth noting the 424-point range yesterday was wider than usual, so expect some follow-through volatility.
